World Photography Day
World Photography Day: how to get involved and share your favourite photos
The power of photography
World Photography Day takes place this year on Friday 19th August. It is an annual, worldwide celebration of the art, craft, science and history of photography – bringing photographers of all types and abilities together, to support one another and share the joy of all things photography.
Photography is such a wonderful and powerful tool. It allows us to capture the beauty of the world around us, from people and places to animals and nature. Whether it’s something you do as a hobby or a profession, there is nothing quite like capturing that perfect shot!
World Photography Day Competition
This year to celebrate World Photography Day, we’re running a competition to encourage people to share their photos and submit an entry to the CEWE Photo Award. Anyone who does so between Monday 15th August and Sunday 21st August, will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 CEWE PHOTOBOOK voucher. The full T&Cs can be found here.
The CEWE Photo Award
The CEWE Photo Award is the world’s largest photo competition and aims to celebrate the best in photography across the globe. The competition is free to enter and is open to everyone – from keen amateur photographers to established professionals.
Until the end of May 2023, entrants can submit photos that celebrate the competition’s ‘Our World is Beautiful’ theme. There are 10 categories for budding photographers to enter from aerial shots and animals to landscapes, travel and culture - highlighting the true beauty of the world around us.
In addition to the chance of winning a CEWE PHOTOBOOK voucher, the 1000 overall winners can look forward to prizes totalling more than €250,000. 10 Euro cents will also be donated to our charity partner, SOS Children's Villages Worldwide, for every photo submitted. Find out more about the CEWE Photo Award.
Celebrating World Photography Day
To further celebrate World Photography Day this year, we're delighted to release a selection of images across all categories. These photos have all been submitted in this year’s edition of the CEWE Photo Award. We hope you enjoy these images as much as we do!
